Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Cyriac Joseph stated that the public perception that sycophancy (servitude) is necessary to become a judge is incorrect; instead, hard work and excellence as a lawyer are what truly matter. He pointed to the judicial career of Justice Siri Jagan as a prime example of this.
