Kerala Court Refuses To Vacate Order Halting Release Of JioHotstar Web Series 'Anali' Allegedly Based On Koodathayi Murders

A Kerala Court on Monday (October 5) refused to vacate its order halting the release of JioHotstar webseries 'Anali', which is allegedly based on the Koodathayi murders.
A detailed order is awaited.
Smt. Reeja R. Nair, Third Additional Munsiff (RCC), Ernakulam dismissed the application made by Jiostar Pvt. Ltd. to vacate the ex-parte ad interim injunction that was earlier granted in the suit filed by accused Jollyamma Joseph @ Jolly Joseph. The court also allowed the injunction application filed by Jolly in a common order.
Jolly is accused of murdering six of her family members, including her first husband Roy Thomas, using cyanide, with the motive to take control of the family property. Her trial is under progress before the Additional District Court (Special Court for Trial for Maradu Cases), Kozhikode.
After the ex-parte ad interim injunction was granted by the munsiff court, Jiostar had moved the High Court seeking an expeditious hearing and disposal of its plea for vacating the same. This plea was allowed by the High Court.
Earlier this year, Jolly had moved the High Court seeking to restrain the series' release but the same was dismissed, asking her to pursue the statutory remedy available.
The suit is moved by Advocates Arun V.G., Prashant K.D., Neeraj Narayan, and Harikrishnan R. Jiostar Pvt. Ltd. is represented by Advocate Veena Raveendran.
Advocates Kaleeswaram Raj, Chinnu Maria, Manjima, Tarun are appearing for production house Asiaville Studios. Advocates Saiby Jose Kidangoor, Sreeraj, Victor Joseph, Adarsh and Agnelo Aquinas for director Midhun Manuel Thomas.
